Kasia Szymanek

Where she served as a FOCUS Missionary:

Kasia served for two years at the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, ND) during the 2004-2006 school years.  Before joining staff, Kasia was involved with FOCUS at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign, IL).

What she’s up to now:

Kasia is studying osteopathic medicine at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, MI.  Kasia was inspired to pursue medicine by St. Gianna Beretta Molla, an extraordinary mother and physician.  Kasia hopes to specialize in NaProTechnology, a new practice that helps couples achieve pregnancy using natural methods approved by the Church.  She will continue being involved with FOCUS at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.  Kasia also hopes to start a Bible study for other medical students.

How FOCUS impacted her life:

“Through FOCUS, I realized I can be a devout Catholic in love with my faith in the midst of the world.  I am eternally grateful to FOCUS for emphasizing the importance of daily Mass, showing me the beauty of the Sabbath rest, instructing me in  tithing, teaching me how to pray a daily holy hour, and inspiring me to keep learning about my faith through the books I read, lectures I attend, and other activities I engage in. I have made life-long friends who are traveling this beautiful journey with me.  Their humble example motivates me to keep striving for excellence and sharing my life/faith with others.” ~Kasia Szymanek
