In the West there is loneliness, which I call the leprosy of the West. In many ways it is worse than our poor in Calcutta. - Bl. Mother Teresa

For decades Canada has been a promised land for those seeking opportunity, freedom, refuge, or safety. The Canadian people have generously opened their country to brothers and sisters from war-torn or poverty-stricken countries. Sadly, what awaits many of these people is hardship. As Blessed Mother Teresa knew, the material wealth of the western nations could not provide for all of the real needs of her many people.

Fortunately, we're getting a chance to do just that! Come serve with Mother Teresa's sisters, the Missionaries of Charity as we help in their Summer Program for immigrant and refugee children in Toronto, Ontario. We will help these boys and girls have a Summer of spiritual nourishment and the opportunity to learn games and skills that will help them discover their true dignity as sons and daughters of God. In addition to this, we will work to alleviate some of the loneliness brought on by poverty for many of Toronto's native residents by serving with Capuchin Friars in their daily soup kitchen. Come join us in solidarity with the poor and the mission to bring love and restore dignity to many of our brothers and sisters just north of our very own border!
